How not to get a job

Job freebies will be offering free help with CVs, as well as reviewing paid CV options to help you find the job of your dreams.

People often say that its easier to get a job when you're in employment - so bear this in mind if you're thinking of quitting a job and then looking for a new one.

Remember also that references are often the make or break of any job application. if you must leave a job leave on friendly terms. Contact people before putting their name down for a reference and have a word with personel at your company before applying for jobs - they would rather hear it from you that you want to change jobs, and might always be able to offer you a new job within the company.

Job hunting hints

  • Keep your cv up to date
  • Take copies of your CV with you when looking for a job. You never know when you might need to leave one with someone
  • Make sure your phone number is up to date
  • Try the local paper - find out which nights have which jobs in (eg: Manchester evening news has general jobs on a Thursday)
  • Ask around. The more people who are keeping their ear to the ground the better
  • Ask at your local job centre what help they can offer.
  • Wear a smart outfit when you're job hunting impromptu interviews might spring up
  • Keep your hair tidy too!

"FLEXIBLE HOURS"
Work 40 hours; get paid for 25.
